About the Sustainable Times-My sustainable journey

The Sustainable Times is my creative journey-and starting point along The Green Path. It is my place to share all that which pertains to sustainable living, as I interpret, experience and relate to it.

And just what is sustainable living anyway ?!

For me, living sustainably means living with compassion and respect;-compassion for all that is-for ourselves, our fellow beings, and our environment. It is that understanding of the inextricable relationship that we all have to one another as human beings. It is the understanding of the connection that we have to our environment. It is the understanding that each and every thought and action we carry out has far-reaching effects on our own lives, that of others and our environment in the "now" and in the future.

I fear that too many of us, do not always think about the consequences of our actions an take much too much for granted. I certainly now that I have and still do, however, I would like to try to make a conscious effort of begin more aware.

-I have decided to make a conscious steps by altering a few things in my life. For example, while I have always maintained what I would refer to as a healthy and balanced diet, I have decided to take it up an notch by including more pant-based foods-vegan, and all of the recipes in this blog are vegan or vegetarian.

-I have eradicated plastic-bag consumption and carry around cloth bags all the time when I go shopping.

-I will no longer consider getting my drivers license and continue taking public transportation or riding my bike more.

-I have become much more aware of my water consumption-or rather wastage. My awful habit of letting the water run while brushing my teeth for example, is now history!

..these are indeed tiny little steps, each of which could potentially lead to great change. After all, you have to start somewhere right?! So, what are your steps going to be-here is your journey going to lead you?!
